The latest addition to the Presidential residence is not only going to provide a permanent supply of fresh produce to the White House but will also send the message to citizens of the United States and throughout the world that growing your own organic food be a healthy and less expensive alternative to buying food at the super market.
It has been reported that for every $100 spent on the growing of organic produce more than $1700 of produce can be generated. Those saving are astronomical. With saving like that how could you afford not to grow your own? Plus organic food doesn't contain any of the terrible chemical additives, it even tastes better.
The new White House vegetable garden is going to contain over 55 different fruits and vegetables, it will also include a herb garden. This 1,100 square foot garden will produce enough fresh fruits and vegetables to feed the Obama family for the next 4 to 8 years. Michelle Obama has even mentioned having two bee hives to pollinate the garden which will be tended by a bee keeper under the employ of the white house.
As an interesting fact the new White House garden will not grow beets. Apparently the President doesn't like beets. Who knew? Now your garden may not be as sizable as the White house garden will be, but growing your own white house garden can not only provide a healthy and inexpensive alternative to grocery shopping but you may find that you have fun while you're at it.
